Earnings before interest and taxes fell 36% in the first quarter while revenue dropped 8.1%.

BMW unveiled a refreshed 7 Series sedan on Wednesday. The automaker wants to keep making sedans in spite of U.S. tariff pressures on German imports and the far higher sales of sport utility vehicles, said Sebastian Mackensen, the company's North America chief.

BMW unveiled a refreshed 7 Series sedan in New York and Beijing in April and said it's committed to selling sedans. The vehicle will be first to have technology and other design features that the automaker had originally meant for electric vehicles.

BMW debuted its refreshed version of the 7 Series sedan, the brand's full size flagship vehicle in April. It's the most extensive update BMW has undertaken.
