Ruling marks rare instance of companies' being found criminally liable for crash of a jetliner; plane maker set to appeal.

A Paris appeals court on Wednesday found Airbus and Air France guilty of corporate manslaughter in the 2009 Rio-Paris plane crash that killed 228 passengers and crew in France's worst air disaster, ordering both companies to pay the maximum fine of €225,000 each.

The French-Dutch carrier group said it expects the war in Iran to increase its fuel costs for 2026 by more than $2 billion compared with last year.

Analysts told CNBC that a jet fuel shortage is looming in Europe as the Middle East crisis becomes prolonged. This will result in "severe" flight cancellations in the summer after carriers have already reduced flight capacity for some routes.
